Exquisite Corpse

This game borrows the name of a classic Surrealist art exercise from the 20’s but it really isn’t much like it, actually.  Each participant makes a drawing that complies with the given theme of that particular game, using colored Sharpie markers on a 5 x 8” unlined file card.  One Exquisite Corpse called for imaginary album covers, another for drawings that expressed an emotion or state of mind, another for entries that illustrated a specific word from a verse of “I Am the Walrus”.  The players or judges can reject drawings that are insufficiently relevant or that are not good.  The file cards are arranged together on a grid to make a kind of mosaic, and, finally, players and others vote for their favorite ones.  The whole exercise usually unfolds gradually over a couple of days.
